Power Walking with Pavarotti’s belly – believe in yourself

“You won’t get pregnant you are not ovulating,” “you will never find love at 37,” “how on earth are you going to beat 10 000 others to be on The Apprentice?”, “you have no chance of winning the Weakest Link because you were voted off first last time and you have no knowledge of popular culture”, “your book has been rejected by 80 publishers, it’s is doomed”, “women’s events in a recession you have to be joking!”

These were all the things swimming around in my head on my early morning walk. It was a beautiful Monday morning and the sky was clear. I was wearing just a T-shirt and leggings and powering through my usual morning walk (well as powering as one can be with a tummy the size of Pavarotti’s). I was breaking a gentle sweat as I contemplated the previous week and the week ahead.

Last week was challenging with the heat and being pregnant. It was difficult to keep my temperature down and the overnight use of a fan bought on a really bad cold. I never get colds and it took me by surprise over the weekend and took the wind out of my sails. It bought with it an upset stomach, wheezing chest, a sore mouth and gums, headaches and nausea. All part of the course in pregnancy, so I’m told. Nonetheless my partner put me on enforced house arrest to watch the tennis. I love watching winners and the Williams sisters continue to astound me!

As Monday morning dawned and I woke at 5am, I started to feel more human again. I had missed my early morning walks in the heat but it was on my walk that I contemplated our up and coming seminar programme. Bookings are doing really well and I am very excited to once again be running a series of Summer Seminars.

I was sketching the first seminar on Self Belief in my head and was reminding myself what can I teach people about Self Belief? Then all the negative things that people had told me in the past came flooding back – I remembered all of the reasons why I am doing the seminars.

Self Belief is not to be confused with arrogance, ego or delusion; or with blindly going down the same old dark ally. Self Belief is not something that depends on what other people think. It’s not something that happens by accident.

It’s a knowing, a desire, a belief that you will never give up even if it was the last thing that you did. It’s an aching in your heart that you will pursue till the end. It’s made from the past, the present, the future and beyond. It’s a whole life strategy that combines mind and body. It’s the picture at the end, it’s the goal that’s worth the fighting, and it’s the voice within your head that tells you “keep on running”. It’s the different turns that you take to get you to your destination. It’s the strategy, the tactics and the techniques that have been tried and tested over the years that work for all achievers and can work for you too. It’s the wide birth that you give to people who tell you NO NO NO!

If you are someone who lets other people blow you off your course when you know where you want to be. Or if you are someone who wants something more and wants to know how to get it. If you are someone who like me is fed up with people telling you otherwise, telling you to go West when you want to go North, I promise to share with you how I kept belief when everyone told me otherwise?

I will teach you how to deal with your doubts and to allow yourself the success that you so want.

I learned something recently that we are all the sum of the average of the five closest people around us in terms of aspiration, wealth and ambition. We would love you to join us and other people like you who will keep you going when the others tell you to stop.
